MHW front-end was cooked

I had finished the front-end of the MHW site this morning (something around 4 to 5 am). But still have some stuff needed to be wrapped up. For example there are still no detail guidelines on front-end elements (like size of images, container and stuff). So MHW has started! Even there is only me in this first meetup. I have nothing to loose right. Chaow now. Gotta to do some thesis's groundwork for tomorrow discussion.

I have been thinking of having some sort of hack week (and stuff) organized in Minden (USM) campus. I think it is good to have a week off just for doing hackathon or spreading ideas. But the thing is i don't know how much support we're gonna get. It is good to have a young nerds (who is interest/fun/active/geek what so ever) get-together you know. Currently i don't see much people (of course this people exist) in school. Postgrad's lab looks good, whiteboard - yes, something to sit on - yes, but incomplete if projector. Let try putting this in 2012 revolution shall we?

I think it is time for me to start learning node.js. Since i am devel in my unix box, so everything's written here are in that platform (eventhough my first node.js night was in Windows). Motivation? It is because node.js still young and of course, super fast! (it is build with V8). Lets get a clean source with git:

Im still sticking around with power signal and distance. After wasting 8 hours reading and review some research paper, hanging out with friends in forum (you guys sweet!) talking about project and some research plus discussing on rssi signal measurement (credit to d4shbo4rd aka thomas, how come you know about this stuff?? weird), i would rather say there is no such way to have an accurate measurement between signal and distance. But there are still some methods to eliminate the "impossible" quote, introduced by pros. Seems like im getting back to Math. I love Math!

Selepas merekodkan test bed untuk report dengan recordmydesktop, gue baru saja menyedari yang format video yang direkodkan ialah .ogv. Disebabkan test bed yang nak dihantar ialah kepada senior staff, takut jugak kalau-kalau diorang tak tahu nak buka test bed dengan application apa. So tanya Alfin, dia cakap common video format yang orang tahu ialah .avi, dengan malas dan dukhachita saya terpaksa lah mengoogle macam mana nak convert .ogv format ke .avi format dalam Linux. Ringkasan HOWTO:

My brother is on his way to come to KL this Friday and i had just plan to go back to my hometown (oh i love so much my hometown). The thing is i still dont have a ticket. PART 1 - rssi inquiry value in Bluez

Seems like rssi value is correct. But there is something weird in inquiry_info structure. A better looks can be seen in dump session thanks to hcidump. It prints all inquiry information including bluetooth address, inquiry mode, clock offset, device class and rssi value.

How i run?

I need two terminal to run exactly what i want. One terminal will execute inquiry command and another terminal will be used to capture all inquiry traffic. Two command;

./hcitool inq

./hcidump -x -V

-V option save me a lot. I have try it before this but still getting issue to print rssi value. Like before i just used only -x option. But this time i use -V also.

It just give a sign "haa?" when it just all because of the verbose option. Result? rssi value seems appears. New issue arise. Where to look for rssi value in the source?

Here is a simple hello world from ubuntu notify-send. What we need is only libnotify-bin package. Open your Synaptic and search for "libnotify-bin". Tick and install that package. Then we're ready to have a hello-world session.

type in terminal,

notify-send -i "Title Text" "Description"

example:

notify-send -i /home/Pictures/Personal/my.png "Hello World" "by noronorobeam"

This is a good feature to be applied on project. Looking forward to include in my project.

I would love to see Firefox with a clear interface. Seems like everyone is busy with the tabs issue on browser, somehow make me want to dive in the issue. This is my mockup for Firefox, created with GIMP and Inkskape. I just make a little bit change with tabs, putting below of the browser. Will come out with the full mockup later. Python is the next language that im really wanna learn right now. Reason? i dont know. Seems like everyone are talking more about python. Sometimes it make people eager to know why it is so popular. Now its time for me to try it. As usual, as a newbie, a common question arises is how to start python. Since i have my linux machine, everything should works fine.

Install Python interpreter

-Goto Application->Add/Remove

-Search for IDLE python 2.6.2 - (current stable version is 2.6.2 and 3.1. It is advisable to start -with 2.6.2 since it support current also latest[3.1] version)

-Click Apply and wait till the installation finish.

Now im ready to start my Python Hello world.

Chrome vs Shiretoko 3.5.1

I have been tested both browsers in my Jaunty machine for about two weeks. And now i wanna highlight some issue that i have so far with this two. Some specs here:

Vostro 1200, Jaunty 9.04, Intel C2D, GMA965, dual boot

Chrome (Dev version)

-Faster on surfing

-No unforce error (at this time at least)

-No flash (testing on youtube)

-Unease of use of bookmark (seems like firefox save me more)

-Overview page (tab screenshot, Recent activites) - save more time

-Download time overall - normal

-My fav - incognito mode (looks cool!)

-Rating: 4/5

Shiretoko 3.5.1 (Firefox 3.5)

-A little bit slower that chrome

-Unforce error (i dont know why, still investigate)

-Ease of use in term of flash (apt-get install, youtube is working)

-Ease of use of bookmark

-Private browsing seems ok to me

-Download time overall - thanks to downthemall (save me a lot though..)

-Rating: 4/5

p/s: Seems chrome still in dev version, all linux users still hoping on current dev of chrome. Some say it will be release at the mean time of first chrome os code at the end of 2009.

After a weeks, it is a time to try vlc 1.0. I have read so many positive comments about current new release vlc 1.0. It is about 9 million downloads have been reach now and seems to grow more. Sometimes people's reviews can attract me to try compiling vlc. Now im so eager to try it myself. Here's i conclude on how i install vlc on my Jaunty machine:

Seems like i am lost in the battle to enable ym in my pidgin 2.5.8, i settle on gtalk in my ub. I dont know either office firewall or it is a problem on ym itself. Thanks to gtalk for giving back my taste to use pidgin back (it is a long time im not using pidgin). The good is gtalk is working fine, the bad is i lost all my lovely ym buddy (i am alone in my gtalk box until i figure out how to configure ym back in my pidgin). Here some configuration on gtalk that make my life back to pidgin.

Open pidgin and add an account for gtalk.
Set protocol to Google talk.
Enter your gmail username.
Let the domain and resource to default.
Enter your gmail password.
Goto Advanced tab.
Check on "Force old port (5223) SSL" box.
Set connect box to 443.
Set connect server to talk.google.com
Let proxy type to Gnome Proxy Setting.
Now your done

Tak tahu kenapa, external hdd x boleh nak access tadi. Mungkin sebab install ub pakai USB drive tadi kot. So bila macam ni terjadi, user sebenarnya tidak mempunyai privilege untuk access ntfs (maksudnya no access to read ntfs blocks).

So solution, guna mount command,

format: sudo mount -t ntfs-3g
p/s: guna -t option untuk define filesystem type.

e.g: sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom1

There must be a problem with:

do not have read permission to the file which is to be link.
file to be linked is not exist
user don't have permission to create symbolic link
user didn't use a full path of the file

Instead of using a current path, it is suppose to use a full path of the file.
Format: ln -s

e.g:

sudo ln -s libjrtp* /usr/lib -> (symbolic link will gonna be broken)

Case 1 to 3 just related with privilege. For the case 4, we must provide a full path's name for the actualFile. It is supposed to be:

e.g: sudo ln -s $HOME/Desktop/lib/libjrtp* /usr/lib

Now the symbolic link should be ok.

Ntah Boring pun ada ngada2 pun ada. Seriously x tahu nak pegi mana. Nak pegi Zoo kang Harushard cakap "Kanak-kanak". Nak pegi KLCC bukan kaki lepak. Nak tengok wayang Transformers 2 tak keluar lagi. Nak pegi Putrajaya kang dikatakan mak jiwang pulak. Ambik2 gambar dengan landskap.

Ada 2 benda yang dengar macam menarik. Wahai orang-orang yang berpengetahuan, Apakah "Uptown" dan "Downtown" itu? Menarik kah ia?

Linux Command - chown and chgrp

Setiap file dalam Linux mempunyai owner and group dia tersendiri (lebih lanjut, buka terminal, taip 'ls -l'. Ada 2 column y mempunyai nama, samada root atau normal user). Untuk lebih lanjut lihat manual ("man chown" kat terminal).
Nak ubah file ownership/group senang ja. Selalunya file yang kepunyaan root di lockdown seperti di bawah:

Format untuk chown ialah:
chown user file

e.g: sudo chown handy serv.addr

Untuk chgrp sama jugak:

e.g: sudo chgrp handy serv.addr

Sample sebelum chown + chgrp (ownership + group = root):

Sample selepas chown + chgrp (ownership + group = handy):

So icon file lockdown akan hilang. Done.

MSC Open Source Conference is a success

Empat hari ak ke sana. Rasa sangat-sangat best. First time ak jumpa community. Kalau ak tak datang memang dah tak de peluang lagi untuk jumpa community dalam dua hingga tiga tahun akan datang. Thanks guys for all this moment. First event memang agak kelam kabut sikit. Tapi second day dh okay. Next time kita buat lagi power dari tahun ni. Thanks to IxSystem atas effort korang untuk datang ke sini dengan kewangan sendiri. Memamg kami appreciate banyak. Next week Fedora 11 launch party kat Singapore. Sesape nak ikut ble je. Support Malaysia Open Souce Community.
